The COVID-19 pandemic has affected educational systems worldwide, leading to the near-total closures of schools. Like many other governments, the Jamaican government temporarily closed educational institutions to contain the spread of COVID-19. As of 7 June 2020, approximately 552,000 learners enrolled from pre-primary to upper-secondary education and 74,500 learners enrolled in tertiary education programs were out of school,
School closures impact not only students, teachers, and families but have far-reaching economic and societal consequences. Shedding a light on various social and economic issues, including digital learning. The impact was more severe for a rural schools.
